Nora Armchair

Nora is a small padded armchair whose whole character comes from its curves. Alberto Ghirardello drew it in 2024 around a shell of curved plywood, then wrapped that shell so completely in upholstery that the structure disappears and only the soft, rounded volume remains.

The shapes are deliberately unliteral. There is something abstract and almost fairy-tale about the silhouette, a chair that looks like it was drawn from memory rather than measured. It reads as reassuring rather than delicate, and it has enough presence to sit on its own in a corner without needing a companion piece.

The curved plywood structure does the structural work quietly. Because it is formed rather than jointed, the back and arms flow into one continuous line, and the padding sits on a shell that already has the shape rather than being built up to create it.

Nora is upholstered to order across Mogg's full range of fabrics and leathers, from bouclé and velvet through to nubuck and hide, so the same form can be pitched soft and quiet or bright and graphic depending on the cover.
