The Tonella sofa carries the same story as the armchair. Sancal began by making French-style chairs, and Note Design Studio reinterpreted that heritage through the wine barrels of Yecla, the town in southern Spain where Sancal is based.
Straight lines of quilting run down the outside of the sofa like barrel staves, contrasting with the smooth, deep cushions of the seat and back. Underneath, a base of slim metal rods echoes the staves and lifts the body off the floor.
The seat, back and arms are flexible molded foam. The interior can be upholstered in fabric or leather, while the quilted outer shell is fabric only, so two-tone combinations are easy to put together.
The base is available in bronze or any of Sancal's extra matte lacquers. Pair it with the Tonella armchair, stools or poufs for a complete set.
