Remnant Armchair

An armchair conceived as the offcut. Remnant is what the sculptor discarded while carving Sancal's Core chair, given a life of its own.

Note Design Studio designed it in 2020 as Core's counterpart, so the two share a language while reading as opposites. Where Core is the figure, Remnant is the ground, and it was shortlisted at the Dezeen Awards the following year.

The signature is the quilting, fine and continuous across the back, the arms and the seat. Underneath that soft surface is a considerably more engineered object: injection moulded foam over a steel frame, with helical steel springs in the seat.

Fabric only, with height adjustable feet, and made to order rather than held in stock.
