Planta Chair with Arms

A wide backrest that unfolds around the body like a leaf. Planta takes its name and its logic from tropical foliage.

Yonoh looked at how a Monstera leaf opens and applied the same principles of growth and balance to a chair, rather than copying the shape literally. The result is a protective, enveloping back on a clear and recognisable silhouette.

The structure is metal, covered in injected foam and polyester fibre, with a laminated beech backboard behind the padding. The legs are 25 mm bent metal tube in extra matte lacquer, and this version adds arms in 20 mm tube finished to match the base.

Sancal offer it across several bases, so the same chair works at a dining table, in an office, or in a hotel lobby beside a larger sofa.
