Icons Casus Belli

A small stack of painted solid ash blocks that assemble into a figure, and can be rearranged into something else entirely.

Icons is Geckeler Michels' series of building block sculptures for Sancal, each one reducing a familiar motif to a handful of simplified geometric forms. The subjects range from the harmless to the pointed, and the studio describe the collection as deliberately bridging child like imagery and adult themes.

Casus Belli is Latin for an act of war, the pretext used to justify a conflict, and sits at the sharper end of that range. It comes with assembly instructions, but nothing stops you stacking it your own way.
