Faces Side Table

A small occasional table carved as a sculpted solid oak volume, which reads differently depending on where you stand.

Nathan Yong designed Faces in 2022 around that shifting quality. From one angle the slatted timber mass suggests a figure or a profile, from another it flattens into pure abstraction. The stain is used to emphasise the effect rather than hide it.

The visual weight sits entirely in the wood. A simple round lacquered steel base plate does the stabilising and otherwise stays out of the way, which is what lets the carved volume appear to stand on its own.

It is made to order in a wide range of stains, so the same piece can be specified as playful or as restrained as the room needs.
