Stone 5 Rug

Stone 5 is the compact, nearly square pebble of the set, and in this terracotta it is the one piece in the collection that is meant to be seen rather than to recede.

The red is deep and slightly dusty, the colour of fired clay rather than paint, and hand tufting in pure New Zealand wool keeps it matte so it never looks synthetic.

The pile is dense and cut level, and the edge follows the drawn outline all the way round.

Diego Fortunato built the collection around the idea that a rug can be a single object on the floor rather than a border around the furniture. This is the piece that makes that argument most directly.
