Stone 1 Rug

Stone 1 borrows the outline of a river pebble and scales it up to the floor, trading the usual rectangle for a soft, asymmetric edge that settles into a room instead of dividing it.

Diego Fortunato worked the piece in pure New Zealand wool, hand tufted to a dense, level pile that feels substantial underfoot and takes the sound out of a hard-floored room.

The colour is a cool pale grey with the flat, quiet quality of weathered limestone, so it sits under furniture without competing with it.

The shapes in this collection were drawn to be used together, overlapping like stones in a riverbed. A single one reads perfectly well on its own beside a bed or a low chair.
