Quill L Rug Green

Quill takes the shape of a single bird feather and blows it up to the size of a room. Nao Tamura drew it freehand, and the irregular outline is the point rather than a flourish.

This is the large size, made to order in a custom green rather than the ivory the collection is normally shown in.

It is hand tufted in virgin wool, with the fine parallel lines of the feather's barbs worked into the pile at different heights so they read as texture rather than print.

Tamura designed the collection around wabi-sabi, the idea that the modest and the imperfect are worth more attention than the polished. A feather on a floor is about as direct a statement of that as you could make.
