Discovery Rug

Discovery reproduces one of Lucia Eames's hand drawings almost exactly as she made it, keeping the speed and the wandering of the original line rather than tidying it into a pattern.

The technique is what makes that possible. A flat kilim base carries the ground, and the drawing is embroidered onto it, so the line sits on the surface as if the rug were a sheet of paper.

The result is light on its feet. The figures and fragments seem to float across a neutral field rather than being locked into a repeat.

Flat construction also makes it durable and easy to live with, which matters at this size. It will take a dining table and chairs without the drawing disappearing under them.
