Costantina is a floor lamp built as a column of turned wooden volumes, cylinders and double cones stacked one on top of the next until they read as a single totem. Nava + Arosio Studio designed it for Mogg in 2022, and it sits somewhere between a piece of lighting and a piece of sculpture.
The rhythm of the stack is the whole idea. Wide and narrow sections alternate up the height of the lamp, so the outline keeps changing as you walk around it, and the warm grain of the wood runs through every block.
The light itself is indirect. It leaves from the top of the column and washes the surface it is aimed at rather than glaring into the room, which gives a corner, a wall or a ceiling a soft focus of its own.
The column rises from a slim round base in burnished metal, kept deliberately low and dark so the wood carries the eye. It works in a living room, a bedroom or a hallway, on its own or paired, and it has enough presence to anchor a space when it is switched off.
