Bastaaa Coat Hooks, Set of 3

Bastaaa is a set of three wall hooks shaped as hammers, driven into the wall mid-swing. Marcantonio designed it for Mogg as a piece of deadpan humour that still does its job properly, which is the whole trick of it.

The joke is in the gesture. Everyone knows the impulse to hammer something, to nail it down, to break the piggy bank, and the hooks catch that impulse at the exact moment before impact. Hung in a row they read as a small comic strip along the wall.

The making is not a joke at all. Each hook pairs a natural olive-toned ash handle with a cast brass head finished to a polish, so the pieces have real weight and the brass picks up light the way a tool never would.

They work in an entrance hall, a bedroom or a cloakroom, and they carry enough personality to be hung on their own as objects rather than as hardware. Mogg also make a mirror in the same family.
