Coque Mirror Small

Coque is a round wall mirror set within a deep ceramic shell, giving a simple circle of glass real body and presence. Its name is French for shell, a fitting description of the way the frame curls around the reflective surface.

Alain Gilles wanted to move away from flat, cold contemporary mirrors and create something with a quietly hypnotic quality, where the glass appears to float inside a modern ceramic frame.

The ceramic is glazed to set two finishes against each other, a glossy enamelled inner face and a textured, matt outer skin, both visible where the rim turns inward. It comes in a choice of glazed ceramic tones as well as a range of lacquered colours.

Hung in an entrance, above a console or in a cloakroom, Coque reads as much as a decorative object as a mirror, adding depth and a handmade feel to any wall. Designed by Alain Gilles for Miniforms.
