Luna Wall Lamp 30

Luna is a wall light that turns a single gilded disc into a small glowing moon. It belongs to Catellani & Smith's Luci d'Oro collection, a family of pieces that grew out of Enzo Catellani's fascination with golden light, the warm glow we associate with sunlight and fire.

Rather than shining straight into the room, Luna works by reflection. A slim copper rod carrying the light source sits in front of the disc on a flexible brass arm, aiming its glow back onto the leafed surface, which returns it to the room softened and warmed.

Made by hand in the brand's workshop in Villa di Serio, near Bergamo, the disc is lined with metal leaf over a gently textured surface, so every piece catches the light in its own way. It is available in gold, silver or copper leaf, and a black base keeps the composition graphic and understated.

The effect is an intimate ambient glow framed by a halo of shadow on the wall, lovely beside a bed, along a corridor or repeated in a row. It is a quiet reminder of why Catellani & Smith still make their lamps by hand.
