Abu Dhabi based German interior architect and designer Paula invites us into her living room - a space that reflects her personality, her global lifestyle, and her approach to dare to embrace colors and styles that set you apart from the crowd.
Tell us about you, Hinderer Homes and your style in interior?
Paula: I’m Paula founder of Hinderer Homes - an interior architecture and design studio focusing on high end residential projects with the main goal of creating a unique home for my clients that reflects their personality. For me, each project is more than just another space, it's a canvas upon which I paint my unique vision, refusing to be confined to the constraints of conventional design norms. My style in interiors is to always stay curious about how to approach a new project and how to use the past experience in a completely new context. It’s all about individuality for me.
What does playfulness and color mean to you and how do you include it in your everyday life?
Paula: Color means to me open mindedness and independence. Color and playfulness allow me daily to educate my eye and to find inspiration in the smallest of details. Both play an essential role in creating my clients dream home, a home that reflects their personality and their unique story. I love that through playfulness and color you’re given the opportunity to constantly represent yourself and your home in a completely new style and context.
How do you see interior design changing in the UAE over the next couple of years?
Paula: I see a very colorful and playful interior design future in the UAE! In a world saturated with the same social media interior imagery, I stand firm in my vision that in the future interior design will be about authenticity and originality. People will crave more a style that means something to them, a design that aligns with their lifestyle, and a space that reflects their unique story.
What’s an easy advice you would give people on styling and decorating their spaces?
Paula: I would say: don’t be afraid of color and of selecting a different style than others would do. Embrace bold colors and playful accents to infuse your space with your personality. Mix patterns, add unexpected decor, and let your creativity flow through you. Welcome home!
What inspires your approach to new interiors?
Paula: each project represents a canvas for expressing my distinctive vision, unbound by conventional design norms. I approach each interior with curiosity, blending past experiences in a new context, while emphasizing individuality.
What does playfulness & color mean to you and how do you include it in your everyday life?
Paula: to me color represents open-mindedness and independence. It helps me stay inspired and find joy in small details every day. Using color and playfulness is essential in creating homes that reflect my clients' personalities. I love how colors let us constantly express express ourselves and change our homes in new ways.
What do you like the most about Room Envy and how do you choose to decorate with our products?
Paula: I love about Room Envy that they approach the interior decor market in the UAE in such a new and fresh way.
